Thanksgiving Blessings and Black Friday Splurges

Yesterday was a day of giving thanks and eating lots of delicious food! I am so thankful that Lars and I were able to spend time with both his family and mine. We spent the first half of the day at my grandma’s house where we enjoyed good company, a yummy late lunch/early dinner, and a slice of pie. Later in the evening, we headed over to Lars’s parent’s house. We enjoyed some more good company and I had three more small slices of pie. Yes, I ate 4 slices of pie in one day, and I have no regrets! Overall, yesterday was a great reminder that we have so much to be thankful for. Lars and I have been blessed with wonderful families and an overabundance of delicious and diverse foods.

Today is Black Friday. I am too lazy to actually go out shopping, but I did do a little online shopping at https://hobbii.com/yarn. I have seen Hobbii Yarn advertised many times on Facebook and Instagram and have often been very tempted by their beautiful yarn. But, I have so much yarn. Though likely not the largest, my yarn stash is fairly big. I certainly do not need any more yarn at the moment! But… It came to my attention that Hobbii Yarn was having a big Black Friday sale and I decided it wouldn’t do any harm to take a look… :/ I looked, I loved, I wanted! But, I reasoned with myself yet again and I didn’t buy anything. A little while later, Lars was ordering some tools from a Black Friday sale that had caught his attention. I sweetly asked him if I could buy a little something for myself. Being the sweet husband that he is, he consented to my request and back to Hobbii.com I went! I ordered 8 skeins of various yarns to make a little something for myself and also for some gift projects. I also ordered a cute faux fur pompom for a knitter-friend. And to top it all off I got a free row counter and a free set of cable needles ( You can never have too many, I lose them all the time)! For all that, I spent under $45. I’m not sure how long the sale is running, but I encourage my fellow yarn-crafters to check it out!

Now for the really hard part: Waiting. Shipping is 5-10 days. I’ve gotten too used to Amazon Prime, so this won’t be easy. 😅 Stay tuned for a review post! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. ❤ Let me know what you’re especially thankful for this year in the comments. Thanks for reading!

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Thanksgiving is a little over a week away and Christmas is right on it’s heels. 2019 has almost come to an end. I’m always amazed by how quickly time flies. As each day passes this month, I feel a little more pressure to get my Christmas knitting done. On the other hand, as Thanksgiving draws near, I realize how blessed I am to have so many wonderful people in my life to knit for. I am definitely an introvert and a homebody, yet I am surrounded by a large close-knit family and many loving, faithful friends. I certainly don’t deserve any of them. My heart breaks for anyone who doesn’t have any loved ones to share the holidays and or even life with. Perhaps now is the time to lay aside grudges and bitterness and learn to love one another.

In addition to the special people in my life, I’d like to list some other things I am thankful for this year.

  • God’s never ceasing love and grace. Even when I am unfaithful to Him, He is never and will never be unfaithful to me.
  • My husband has a good, steady job which makes it possible for me to be a stay at home wife and, someday Lord willing, a mother.
  • A good first year of marriage. Lars and I are both imperfect. We both say the wrong things at times. We can both be selfish and hurtful. BUT we make each other laugh. We let each other cry on one another’s shoulders. We forgive. We love. We look forward to the rest of our lives together. ❤
  • My passion for knitting. Knitting is much more than a hobby for me. It brings me joy. It is a way to exercise my mind and hands. A way to bless others. And it even has the potential to be a small business someday.
  • The freedoms we enjoy in America, especially religious freedom. My heart goes out to all who are violently persecuted for their faith in many countries.

Though there is so much more I could say, I will stop there. I hope this post has been encouraging to you all. I especially hope it has made you stop and think about all the blessings in your own life. It does a heart good to take time to think about such things every now and then. Thanks for reading!
